1999-2000 Activity Plan for the Cultural Committee of the UNWLA, Inc.
The goal of the Cultural Committee of the UNWLA for the 1999-2000 year is to enhance the Ukrainian-American experience of our members and their families through programs promoting Ukrainian cultural identity.
The highlights of this year's activities will be the celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the UNWLA, exploring the history of Ukrainian Women in America, and discovering Ukrainian and Ukrainian-theme books and publications.
The committee will develop this program by creating a calendar of events, and network of experts, both UNWLA members and outside consultants, who will provide assistance in planning and executing programs related to this year's themes. This support for both Regional Councils and Branches will include suggested topics for meetings, lectures, book fairs, and exhibits. The Committee will provide the necessary reference materials such as books, biographies, publication lists and contacts, so that each Branch can fully develop an interesting and varied activity calendar for its members.
We will establish a responsive two-way communication between members, their branches and the Committee, so that the preparation for the 75th Anniversary of the UNWLA in year 2000 will result in an event of major impact. This celebration will recognize outstanding historical and cultural contributions made by women in Ukraine and women of Ukrainian descent here in United States, as well as promote and encourage an interest in Ukrainian literature.
In order to help organize book fairs additional assistance will be provided by forwarding highlights of relevant late-breaking news and events, summaries of newly published books, and contacts of book publishers.
Let the Celebrations begin!
